I help founder-led companies care for their most valuable assets:
people, culture, reputation, and growth.

It’s HR Consulting supports boutique founder-led companies and their founders, executives, and people managers. I bring over 20 years of experience in creative boutique companies, combined with my diverse upbringing and background as both an HR executive and mental health counseling student. I leverage practical HR tools and a people-first approach to help leaders prioritize their well-being and that of their teams. My goal is to create healthy work environments where individuals feel valued, empowered, and supported in both their professional and mental well-being. I foster a culture that prioritizes mental health for everyone, regardless of role, rank, or identity, because when work works better, life works better.

world of hr consulting

I partner with founders and leaders to navigate the world of HR, providing counsel on employee relations, shaping organizational structure, defining roles and responsibilities, designing compensation plans and offer packages, streamlining onboarding processes, and facilitating team building while preserving and enhancing company culture. My work promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, drives employee engagement, and supports succession planning. I also assist with setting up or improving benefits, hybrid work practices, mental health resources, performance management processes, and off-boarding policies, including empathetic terminations.

empathic termination training

Terminations are hard on the employees impacted, but they are also hard on leadership and people managers making the decision and figuring out how to exit employees smoothly. However, it can be done with empathy and support. With over twenty years of experience conducting involuntary terminations (my first one sent me to therapy, which I write about in my blog, My First, A Suicide, and a Whole Office: Three Terminations that Changed My Life), I have crafted a 7 step playbook that lead to better outcomes for all. It will still be hard, but following these steps will make it better.

hr THERAPIST

I offer weekly private advisory sessions as an “HR therapist” to address critical people operations, employee relations and culture issues with a neutral expert—whether it’s managing PIPs, preserving company culture, giving feedback during annual performance reviews, conducting empathetic terminations, or simply handling the stresses of managing people while running a business. With decades of experience as an HR leader and consultant, and now studying mental health counseling at Northwestern (Class of '25), I serve as your trusted advisor, confidante, and 'therapist,' helping you navigate challenges discreetly and candidly. My goal is to enhance the employee journey for everyone—including you.

work style WORKSHOPS

Understanding individual work styles is key to fostering a mentally healthy and productive workplace. Different work styles influence how people approach tasks, communicate, and handle stress. By recognizing these unique approaches, organizations can create environments that support mental health, reduce burnout, and promote overall well-being.

When employees and leaders work in alignment with their natural styles, they’re more engaged, satisfied, and effective. Integrating mental health awareness with work style preferences helps build a culture where everyone thrives—boosting both productivity and employee well-being.
